WPLG Local 10 Sports Director Will Manso

Will Manso , the Sports Director at WPLG Local 10 who has worked in the South Florida news market for 13 years, will be featured at the Miami Dade College Journalism Speaker Series  at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 7 at the college’s Wolfson Campus.

 

Manso, who joined Local 10 in March of 1999, has kept busy by working in sports and news, and he's even dabbled in entertainment. He currently serves as Local 10's Sports Director. Manso also serves as host for special shows at the station.

 

Originally from Weehawken, N. J., Manso grew up in South Florida where he earned degrees in broadcast journalism and history from the University of Miami.

 

Manso started his broadcast career as a sports anchor/reporter in Missoula, Mont. After a year in Big Sky land, he worked at a Michigan television station as a sports anchor/reporter before eventually heading back to South Florida.

 

The MDC Journalism Speaker Series was launched in February 2008 to create an exchange and learning opportunity for students interested in pursuing careers in journalism. To date, 42 journalists have participated in the series.   

 

In addition to Manso, this year’s lineup includes Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Frances Robles of the Miami Herald, Boston Globe political reporter, Noah Bierman, ESPN.com reporter, Israel Gutierrez, and Dallas Morning News editor and reporter, Selwyn Crawford.

 

Each program includes a presentation by the journalists and a 15-minute question and answer session.

All presentations are free and open to the public.
