ESPN.com NBA Columnist Israel Gutierrez To Be Featured At February Miami Dade College Journalism Speaker Series Event
Miami, February 8, 2013 - ESPN.com NBA columnist, Israel Gutierrez, will be featured at the Miami Dade College Journalism Speaker Seriesat 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 28, at the college’s North Campus.
Gutierrez, a North Miami Senior High and University of Florida graduate, is also a panelist and contributor on various ESPN programs such as Around the Horn, the Sports Reporters, and SportsCenter.
Prior to working at ESPN, he was a reporter at The Miami Herald and the Palm Beach Post. Gutierrez worked at the Post from 2000-2002 covering the Marlins and the Heat. He worked at the Herald from 2002-2012 where he covered the Heat and served as a sports columnist.
The MDC Journalism Speaker Series was launched in February 2008 to create an exchange and learning opportunity for students interested in pursuing careers in journalism. To date, nearly 50 renowned journalists have participated in the series.
In addition toGutierrez, this year’s lineup includes Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Frances Robles of The New York Times, Boston Globe political reporter, Noah Bierman, and Dallas Morning News editor and reporter, Selwyn Crawford.
Each program includes a presentation by the journalists and a 15-minute question and answer session.
All presentations are free and open to the public.
