Miami Dade College North Campus’ Actors Arena Presents Tierra del Fuego

North Tierra del Fuego L

Miami, October 17, 2013 - Miami Dade College’s(MDC) North Campus’ Actors Arena presents Tierra del Fuego for two consecutive weekends beginning Oct. 25. Written by playwright and journalist Mario Diament and directed by Max Ferrá, the play, inspired by a true story, reflects the need to listen to the personal narratives of others, including our enemies, as a requisite to beginning a real dialogue that could bring about peace.

Tierra del Fuego tells the story of an Israeli woman who, after 22 years, decides to meet the terrorist bomber who left her wounded and killed her dear friend. Held in a London prison and condemned to a life sentence, the bomber accepts her request to meet, and so begins a journey of understanding and forgiveness. The North Campus’ Human Rights Initiative continues to enrich the minds and lives of students as it extends from the classroom to the theatre, and beyond.

Actors Arena, under the direction of Max Ferrá, sets the bar high in terms of quality, Hispanic theatre,” said Malou C. Harrison, interim president of the North Campus. “Our students are not only learning the foundations of the performing arts, but they are also able to showcase their outstanding talent through renowned works such as Tierra del Fuego.”
