MDC Homestead Campus to Host Talk with Florida Senator Dwight Bullard on Stand Your Ground Law Feb. 25

Miami, February 20, 2014 - Miami Dade College’s(MDC) Homestead Campus will present Stand Your Ground – An Interview with Florida State Senator Dwight Bullard, as part of the campus’ Black Heritage Month events. The conversation will take place at 11:15 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the Homestead Campus. The presentation is free and open to the public.

In the wake of George Zimmerman's acquittal in the death of Trayvon Martin, at least 22 states across the country have passed “Stand your Ground” laws, with varying degrees of requirements for when citizens may use deadly force in self-defense. The event will examine and discuss Florida’s Stand Your Ground law.
