Miami, February 20, 2014 -
Miami Dade College’s(MDC) InterAmerican Campus (IAC) and ConnectFamilias invite everyone to attend the Seventh Annual Child Health and Safety Fair, a free event aimed at making homes and communities safer for children. The fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 8, adjacent to the campus, on S.W. 6 Street between 27 and 25 Avenues.
Open to the entire community, the fair shows parents and children how to stay safe in dangerous situations. Specialists will also conduct free health screenings for children ages 0-5.
“We’re teaming up with community partners. There will be entertainment, giveaways and presentations,” said Dr. Lourdes Perez, IAC Dean of Students. “There will also be fire fighters demonstrating how to stop, drop and roll in a fire emergency, as well as tips on health and wellness. It will be a fun and informative event.”
The Caring for Kids Child Safety Fair is an initiative of ConnectFamilias, which is funded by The Children’s Trust. ConnectFamilias’ mission is to establish an efficient, consistent and holistic network of coordinated services that increase the safety and wellbeing of children and families.
