Miami Dade College to Host Christina Balinotti Book Presentation Sept. 1

The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Initiatives (CLACI) at Miami Dade College (MDC), in collaboration with the Miami Book Fair, present author, lecturer and well-known Argentine journalist Christina Balinotti, who will discuss her new book, From Mothers to Daughters: A Family ABC. The event will take place at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 1, at MDC Wolfson Campus. This event will be in Spanish only and is free and open to the public.

MDC Campus Galleries of Art + Design to Collaborate with the Confucius Institute at MDC to Present Reshuffling the Past: New Ink Paintings from China

The Miami Dade College (MDC) Campus Galleries of Art + Design in collaboration with the Confucius Institute (CI) at MDC present the exhibition, Reshuffling the Past: New Ink Paintings from China, Aug. 26 - Nov. 7 at the Wolfson Campus Centre Gallery. The opening reception will be Sept. 2, at noon.

MDC Wolfson Archives Presents a Guided Tour through Vanished Miami Sights with Historic Footage

Discover what Biscayne Boulevard looked like brand new or what Lincoln Road looked like when cars drove on the thoroughfare during the screening, “Once There Was A Place…” With selected film and video clips from the acclaimed Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archives at Miami Dade College (MDC), history consultant Sylvia Gurinsky provides an informal tour through South Florida’s past at the Miami Center for Architecture & Design (MCAD) at 7 p.m. Sept. 9. The event is free and open to the public.

Miami Dade College’s Kendall Campus to Host Into the Wild Exhibition

Miami Dade College (MDC) Galleries of Art + Design presents Into the Wild, an exhibition of paintings that explore the theme of nature, Sept. 10 – Nov. 11, at the Kendall Gallery at MDC’s Kendall Campus. There will be an opening reception Thursday, Sept. 24, at noon. A meet the artists and curator, Carol Jazzar, will take place at 1 p.m., Oct. 3. All events are free and open to the public.

MDC Museum of Art + Design Presents Maquettes and Sketches by Miami-based Artist Karen Rifas

The Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Museum of Art + Design (MOA+D) announces the opening of Macchietta, a mini retrospective of small-scale maquettes by Miami-based artist Karen Rifas. A Director’s Preview will take place Thursday, Sept. 3, from 6 - 8 p.m. at MOA+D located within the College’s Historic Freedom Tower. The exhibition, in view Sept. 4 through Jan. 31, 2016, and supporting programs are FREE and open the public.

Miami Dade College and the Consulate General of Mexico to once again Celebrate Mexican Independence Day Sept. 15

Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Kendall Campus, in partnership with the Consulate General of Mexico in Miami, will celebrate the independence of Mexico in traditional, style, beginning at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 15. The event is free and open to the public.

Miami Dade College Hialeah Campus to Host Hernando Alzate Exhibition

Miami Dade College (MDC) Galleries of Art + Design presents Alzate POP: American Icons Tribute, works on canvas and sculptures by Miami-based artist Hernando Alzate. The opening will take place at noon Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the gallery within MDC Hialeah Campus. This exhibition is presented funding support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
