Miami Dade College’s Museum of Art + Design Presents Neighborhood Reclamation, a New Installation by Michael Vasquez

Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Museum of Art + Design (MOA+D) presents its latest swing/SPACE/miami project with an exhibition by Miami-based artist Michael Vasquez. Vasquez, an alumni of New World School of the Arts, presents a new installation and project titled Neighborhood Reclamation, a series of interspersed canvases that range in form and size. The figurative artist paints the typical trappings of an underserved community. A Director’s Preview will be held on Thursday, May 28th 2015 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at MOA+D located within the College’s Historic Freedom Tower. The preview is FREE and open to the public. The exhibition will be on view beginning Friday, May 29th through July 12th, 2015. The exhibition and supporting programs are FREE and open the public.

Miami Dade College’s Museum of Art + Design Presents New Exhibition by Cuban Artist Florencio Gelabert

Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Museum of Art + Design (MOAD) presents A Dialogue With Time, a new series of thought-provoking large-scale sculptures, installations, drawings and sketches by Cuban artist Florencio Gelabert never exhibited before. A Director’s Preview – $5 for general public and free for museum members, invited guests and MDC/NWSA students – will be held Thursday, May 28, from 6 - 8 p.m. at MOAD located within the College’s Historic Freedom Tower. The exhibition will be free and open to the public May 29 through August 16.

Miami Dade College Students to Receive President’s Volunteer Service Awards June 30

Miami Dade College (MDC) will honor more than 400 students, clubs and organizations college-wide at its Ninth Annual President’s Volunteer Service Awards (PVSA) ceremony at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, at MDC’s Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami. The keynote speaker will be Alberto Ibargüen, president and CEO of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

Naturalization Ceremony for New U.S. Citizens to be Held at Miami Dade College’s Historic Tower Theater July 2

Dozens of new U.S. citizens will take the Oath of Allegiance at a special naturalization ceremony presented by the U.S. Citizenship and immigration Services (USCIS) Thursday, July 2, at Miami Dade College’s (MDC) historic Tower Theater in the heart of Little Havana. The event will start at 11 a.m. Working media is welcome.

Miami Dade College’s (MDC) InterAmerican Campus (IAC) will participate in the 30th International Hispanic Theatre Festival of Miami by hosting International Children’s Day Sunday, July 19, from 2 – 7 p.m. Sponsored by Target and presented in collaboration with Teatro Avante, this annual event brings theater to children’s lives.
