Miami Dade College Students Help Birds Find New Home at Deering Estate at Cutler

In an effort to support bird wildlife, Dr. Lyle Culver, an architecture professor at Miami Dade College (MDC), and his students created a variety of birdhouses for an exhibition that opens at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 17 at the Deering Estate at Cutler, a 444-acre environmental preserve along Biscayne Bay. The event is free and open to the public.

Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus and Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami Present The Nutcracker Suite Dec. 19

Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Wolfson Campus and Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami Company (CCBM), under the artistic direction of Pedro Pablo Peña, will present The Nutcracker Suite at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 19. The event is free and open to students, faculty, and staff with proper MDC identification.

Relive the Miami Vice Era with Wolfson Archives’ Screenings of Local Bars, Taverns and Nightclubs in the 1980s

If you think Miami is eccentric now, you won’t want to miss footage the city’s club and bar scene in the 1980s. The Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archives at Miami Dade College (MDC) have hours of vintage video that captures Club 1235, Regine's, Tobacco Road, and Fire & Ice, among other popular night spots during the Miami Vice years. South Florida Nights screenings, a component of the Wolfson Archives’ REWIND series, will take place from noon – 1:30 p.m. Jan. 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27 & 29 at the Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami. Free and open to the public, the screenings are 15 - 30 minutes in length and repeat during each ninety-minute screening.
