Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Archives Presents Stephen Parr’s ‘Sonic Oddities’

A two-hour trek through the auditory oddities of film history is coming to Miami’s O Cinema Wynwood with the screening of “Sonic Oddities” at 1:30 p.m., Aug. 30. Presented by the Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archives at Miami Dade College and Obsolete Media Miami (O.M.M.), “Sonic Oddities” features films from the collection of filmmaker and film curator Stephen Parr along with films from the Wolfson Archives’ collections. The event is free and open to the public.

Miami Dade College’s Idea Center Launches New Season of The Startup Challenge

Miami Dade College’s (MDC) acclaimed entrepreneurship and innovation hub, The Idea Center, kicks off the fall semester with another round of The Startup Challenge, an exciting competition where MDC students pitch their ideas for a new product or business. The competition runs Sept. 3, 2015 – Jan. 20, 2016 and the grand prize winner will receive $5,000 in seed money to develop their concept. Second and third place winners receive $3,000 each.

MDC Live Arts Keeps It Eclectic After 25 Years

Miami Dade College’s (MDC) MDC Live Arts celebrates its 25th Anniversary with a spectacular season that affirms the organization’s role as Miami’s most eclectic performing arts series. BBVA gives two Miami Dade College students scholarships for apprenticeships at acclaimed El Celler de Can Roca restaurant

Miami Dade College Receives Major Donation of Photographs from Agencia EFE

Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Museum of Art + Design (MOA+D) and the Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archives have received a major donation of photographs from Agencia EFE, the world’s leading Spanish-language news agency. The donation consists of more than 75 photographs from EFE: 75 Years of History, an exhibition celebrating the agency’s 75 years, which are now part of MDC’s permanent collection.

Miami Dade College to Sign Knowledge Sharing Agreement and Host Entrepreneurial Seminar with Tel Aviv University

The Center for Writing and Literature at MDC Presents Bishop Agustin Roman’s Biography

MDC Live Arts Launches Third Live Arts Lab Featuring Taylor Ho Bynum and Rachel Bernsen

Miami Dade College’s (MDC) MDC Live Arts is set to present the third edition of the Live Arts Lab, a professional development laboratory for local working artists. The Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Museum of Art + Design (MOA+D) proudly announces the opening of Recent Acquisitions + Highlights, its first long format installation containing selections from the College’s vast art collection. It is with great sadness that we learn of the untimely passing of our friend and former colleague, Chenjerai Hove. Best known for his award-winning novel, Bones, about a poor farm mother who loses her son in the Zimbabwean war of liberation, Chenjerai was the voice of a generation made powerless by the brutality of the Mugabe government.

Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Museum of Art + Design’s (MOA+D) latest swing/SPACE/miami project is an exhibition by Colombian-born artist Sebastian Muñoz. An MDC alumnus, Muñoz presents a new body of work titled Distrito Doce (District 12), a series of photographs based on Miami-Dade County’s District 12 exploring themes of transformation through exploitation. Miami Dade College’s (MDC) historic Tower Theater will screen Amy, the biopic about six-time Grammy-winner Amy Winehouse that has been generating buzz among film critics and at film festivals all over the world, including the 2015 Cannes Film Festival and 2015 Edinburgh International Film Festival.
