Internships are the beginning of your career. You should be prepared, professional, ethical and reliable during the entire process because the employer could offer a job at the end.
To be eligible, students must be:
- Degree seeking and have a GPA of at least 2.0
- In good financial standing
- Currently enrolled in the college

- Know why you’re looking for an internship
- Have a Career Coach review your resume
- Schedule a practice interview with your Career Coach
Internship Process
- Login to Handshake using your MDC username and password
- Create a profile
- Upload a resume
- Contact the Internship Services Coordinator for support and assistance
- Start applying to internships

During the Internship
- Develop professional relationships
- Find a mentor
- Set personal goals
- Conduct informational interviews
After the Internship
- Add your internship to your LinkedIn Profile and resume
- Connect with people who assisted you on LinkedIn
- Ask for feedback for the future
- Send a thank you letter/ email
- Ask for a letter of recommendation or a professional reference
