Alonzo Bain holds a Master of Science degree in Music Education from Florida International University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Music from Fisk University. He is the founding director of the Gospel Ensemble at the Wolfson Campus of Miami Dade College, where he instituted a series of courses in electronic music and initiated and nurtured the electronic music program.

In the late 1990s, Mr. Bain won a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to research into teaching methodologies for students who needed accommodation. Consequently, he developed methods to assist visually impaired students enrolled in humanities and music courses.

As an assistant to the  director of the Wolfson Campus flute ensemble, The Pipers, he initiated a linkage arrangement involving Miami Dade College and The Cultural and Performing Arts Group (CAPA) of Rolling Meadows, Illinois. The linkage brought international recognition to The Pipers. The ensemble performed in Konstanz, Nurnberg, Karlovy Vary and Prague in the Czech Republic, and in Leipzig and Berlin in Germany. Mr. Bain is recipient of The Hank Meyer Endowed Teaching Chair award and regularly performs at Wolfson commencement ceremonies.
