Lady Shark’s Basketball signs Freshman Transfer Cera Ledbetter

  • Miami Dade College Women`s Basketball signs top post-player Cera Ledbetter to join Shark Nation.

Ledbetter, from Sioux Falls, SD, is a freshman transfer from Central Arizona College and one of eight siblings who can`t wait to get things started here at MDC next season. During her brief time at Central Arizona she encountered a serious injury to her knee that required surgery. After her surgery she realized that she wanted a change of pace and decided to transfer to MDC.

Head Coach Susan Summons says "Cera Ledbetter is a welcome addition to Shark Nation. She is extremely talented and I see her as one of the premier post players in the country. Cera will hopefully lead this program to the NJCAA National Championship Tournament. She is a tremendous person with great work ethic, vision and extremely goal oriented."

Since moving down to Miami, she has been working hard in the classroom and on the court to stay in shape and continue with her rehabilitation, so she can have a strong attack next season.

"I am going to be training during the rest of this season but I look at it as a minor setback, for a major come back. It will help me study the game more mentally and really prepare myself for what`s to come in the future," says Ledbetter.

"I love being down here," says Ledbetter. "I really like the coach, the housing and the school. I am looking forward to getting a national title next season and transferring out to a major division 1 program after getting my degree from MDC."

While in high school Ledbetter stood out as Top Rebounder 2012-2013, and also made the All-Tournament team in 2013, 1st team All- State, All Conference team, and received the Dan Schlekway Award in 2011 and 2012.
