A women's basketball player takes a jump shot
  • The Miami Dade College women's basketball team holds a 5-5 Southern Conference record and is fighting hard to stay ranked as one of the top-three teams in the conference and qualify for the FCSAA State Tournament.

During the past few games, the Lady Sharks have come back with a bang and made sure they leave a mark on their opponents as they conclude the season. The team is ranked 23rd in the NJCAA for blocks per game and 29th in rebounds per game.

Sophomore Vernessa Hinnant leads the team in points with 403 total, averaging 16.8 points per game so far. She is also ranked in the nation for steals and defensive rebounds per game. Though the season is coming to an end, the Lady Sharks still have a chance to make it to the State Tournament as they play each of the conference teams one more time.

The Lady sharks have a little break as they prepare for their next game on February 17th against East Florida State College in Melbourne, but the Sharks will return on February 19th to play Indian River State College for their annual Pink Zone and sophomore night game.
