Miami Dade College Lady Sharks Basketball team hit the road on November 29 -30 to play in the Northwest Florida State Classic where they played #7 Northwest Florida State and lost 52-106 and #4 Chipola College and lost 51-98. Though both games were a blow out the team as a whole went into the games knowing that the weekend was going to be a time to learn and capitalize on past mistakes.
Against Northwest Florida State College the Sharks did what they could to compete against one of the top teams in the nation and they fell short. However, the team still had Freshman Jordyn Bond with 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals while everyone else on the team fell below the doubles in points and in other areas of the game. Against Chipola College on Saturday the Sharks played a little better but still fell short of victory. During this game Bond had 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 steals. Playing better this game was sophomore Vernessa Hinnant scoring 18 points.
The Lady Sharks now have an overall record of 2-6 and will be traveling again this weekend December 6-7 to play in the Florida Shootout tournament. The team will first play against Daytona State College and then College of Central Florida on Saturday.
