MDC Lady Sharks Softball Team

The Lady Sharks finish the 2007-2008 season with a team record of 40-16-1, 18-2 in conference. The Lady Sharks finished 3rd in the Atlantic District Championship and were Southern Conference hampions.

Three Lady Sharks Named NJCAA All Americans

Three Lady Shark Softball players have been named 2008 NJCAA All Americans. Sophomore Short Stop Lauren Lopez has been name to the 1st Team NJCAA All American Team, along side Sophomore Pitcher Kristina DeMello (1st Team NJCAA All American) and Sophomore Outfielder Karina de los Santos who has been named to the NJCAA All American 3rd Team.
On top of National Honors, Lopez, DeMello, and Santos have been named to the National Fast Pitch Coaches Association 1st Team, and the FCCAA All State Team.
Lauren Lopez is also the 2008 Southern Conference Player of the Year, and Kristina DeMello the All State Pitcher of the Year.

Miami Dade College 2008 Softball School Records Broken

Sophomore Lauren Lopez broke MDC records by stealing 51-54 bases this season, scoring 53 runs, 54 RBIs, and batting avg. 522

Sophomore Kristina DeMello broke MDC records by having the most strikeouts in a 7 inning game-18 SO, most strikeouts in one season 249 SOs, most strikeouts in two season 538, and 50 wins total over 2 yrs.
