Scholarship Details

Scholarship Description

  • Covers only in-state tuition and eligible class fees. For students not eligible for in-state tuition, the scholarship covers the in-state portion if all other requirements are met.
  • Good for 60 college-level credits toward an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree at Miami Dade College
  • Special fees for the aviation or culinary arts programs are not covered

Eligibility Criteria

  • First-Time-in-College or Graduating Dual Enrollee
  • Direct Entry, graduating from high school May-July, 2014 
  • Weighted cumulative high school GPA > 3.00
  • Graduation from a public or private high school in Miami Dade County with a standard high school diploma

  • Must live in Miami Dade County
  • Must complete FAFSA (if you are unable to complete a FAFSA, please click here
  • Must meet minimum test scores on approved standardized tests, even if you are DevEd exempted (do not have placement scores for ENC 1101 and/or MAT 1033 or higher). Any combination of the highest available CPT/PERT, ACT and SAT scores are used in determining your readiness (college ready) in the skill area.
  • Covers the fall and spring semesters only 
  • Must enroll full time for at least 12 credits each fall and spring semester 
  • Must register for Fall 2014 semester
  • Courses dropped or failed count toward the 60-credit limit of the scholarship

Other Provisions

  • The American Dream Scholarship will be applied after all other scholarships, financial aid, grants and Florida Prepaid College Plan funds have been applied
  • The American Dream Scholarship is not disbursable in cash

Deadline

By August 18th, 2014

  • The student must be admitted to Miami Dade College
  • The student must have completed FAFSA (if unable to complete a FAFSA, please click here)
  • Miami Dade College must have received  a high school transcript showing the date of graduation and a cumulative weighted high school GPA > 3.00
  • Miami Dade College must have on file test scores meeting minimum requirements on approved standardized tests as indicated here.
  • The student must be registered for 12 or more credits
