Grants
Since 1994, the Institute for Civic Engagement and Democracy has been awarded 47 grants totaling more than $3.1 million dollars. Examples of these grants include:
- CNCS Learn and Serve funds to establish MDC service-learning program;
- CNCS/Florida Campus Compact AmeriCorpsVISTA grants that fund FT positions to assist with America Reads, service-learning, and entrepreneurial education;
- CNCS Learn and Serve grant to help MDCPS develop service-learning programming;
- Campus Compact grant to establish computer technology center in Overtown;
- Southeastern Regional Vision for Education America Reads grant;
- AACC grant to engage students with disabilities in service-learning;
- Campus Compact MLK Day of Service grants;
- AACC New Media Leaders grant to implement social media service-learning projects;
- State Farm Youth Advisory Board grants to infuse service-learning into high schools and teacher preparation programs;
- Area Health Education Center funding to implement smoking prevention curriculum;
- Strong Women Strong Girls AmeriCorps grants to implement mentoring program;
- Campus Compact grant to develop and implement peer advocate “Connect2Complete” program to increase community college student retention and completion;
- Florida Campus Compact AmeriCorps Students in Service and College Access grants.
