The Fire Science Technology program prepares students for employment as Firefighting and Prevention Supervisors to supervise or manage firefighters who control and extinguish fires, protect life and property, and conduct rescue efforts.

The program may also be beneficial to professionals seeking incentive benefits or career enhancement in the field. This program includes the courses required for Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training certification(s) including Fire Instructor 1 and 2, Fire Officer 1 and 2, Firesafety Inspector 1, and Apparatus and Pump Operator.

Program Details

The Associate in Science degree in Fire Sciences is a 60 college credit program that prepares students for professional competency and advancement in the fire sciences field. Students will develop their knowledge of supervision and management, fire ground tactics and strategies, hazardous materials, hydraulics, and other subjects such as:

  • Emergency medical technician
  • Fire service instructor delivery
  • Fire and building codes
