Private Sector Security

The office of Private Sector Security provides State of Florida certified training to individuals interested in obtaining the “D” Security Officer license, the “CC” Private Investigator Intern license, the “G” license for “D”, “CC” and “C” license holders desiring to work armed and mandatory requalification courses.

Our instructors are state certified and have many years of experience in law enforcement, investigations and emergency services. Our office is located in room 8354 at Miami Dade College’s North Campus School of Justice, Public Safety and Law Studies Building (11380 NW 27th Ave., Miami).

Please follow the following steps:

  1. www.mdc.edu* Step one
  2. Click “Apply Now” (in a red box)
  3. Click “Apply online now” (top page blue box)
  4. Select “Online Credit Application” (top page)
  5. Complete the application and submit. **(Please see notes below before completing application)**

NOTES **The private sector training falls under “Career and Technical Education (PSAV) Certificate” **
When you get to the Program/Degree at MDC section check the box next to “Select a program and degree of study” then on next page select check box “Career Technical Certificate” then at the bottom select Private Security 57006**or Private Investigations 57023 call while filling out application if you are unsure about any part of the application we are here to help you. Once you submitted please print final page for confirmation and follow the steps on that page to complete your application.

  2. Once you completed application print In-state tuition waiver form and bring in the required 2 forms of ID to building 1 Admissions and Registration windows.

(Miami Dade College Students with a PSAV Application) Start Here

  1. After 48 hours go to www.mdc.edu
  2. Click “Student Portal | Email, grades, resources, at MyMDC”
  3. Click “Don’t have a student account? Create one now” and complete steps. If needed
  4. Click “Register for classes” Green Box
  5. Click “Log in now” Blue Box
  6. Sign in using newly created MDC user name (If you had it just use the same one)
  7. Click “Enroll”
  8. Select a term (Post-Secondary Adult Vocation) then click Continue.
  9. Enter Class Number (Nbr) then click Enter 
  10. Click “Proceed to step 2 of 3”
  11. Click “ Finish Enrolling”

Notes ** (If not possible you need to see Admissions and Registration about processing your PSAV application) **

Common error messages:

  • If it has been more than a year you have fill out a new PSAV application or a new PSAV readmission application refer to * step one above
  • If you sign in and your application says complete the term needs to say 2173/2017-2; any older ones need to fill out an application or a readmission application refer to * step one above of new student section
  • Class is not in your program you may not be a PSAV student
  • Financial hold; this means you need to cover those cost before you can take on new ones here at the college.
