LIS1001: Library Research

1-3 variable credits

Provides students with a practical working knowledge of the Library so that resources may be used efficiently for research purposes. Emphasis is placed on developing effective and efficient methods of using the card catalog, the online catalog and databases, periodical indexes, CD-ROMS, general reference books and other library research technology..

LIS2004: Introduction to Internet Research

1 credit

This one credit course is delivered via the World Wide Web and internet e-mail. Students must have an internet account with e-mail, a graphical web browser (Netscape v.3.0 or later, or Internet Explorer v.3.0 or later are recommended). Students must have basic familiarity with their computer’s operating system, web browser and e-mail program. The course focuses on methods of accessing information resources available through the internet. Students will learn how to design effective search strategies, retrieve, evaluate and cite internet resources.
