World’s Best Latin Jazz Musicians on One Stage for One Magical Night Nov. 20 at MDC's Kendall Campus
Miami, October 21, 2009 - Arturo Sandoval, Nestor Torres, Albita, Roberto Perera, Ed Calle and several other top Latin jazz musicians will jam on the same stage for one magical night on Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Kendall Campus during the 3rd Annual Latin Jazz Festival. This “free event with ticket” is the flagship event of the campus’ Fall Fest 2009. It will take place at 7 p.m. at Fred Shaw Plaza.
In addition to the award-winning musicians mentioned above, Richard Bravo, Negroni’s Trio, PALO!, Paquito Hechavarria, Cheito Quiñones, Los Herederos, Sammy Figueroa, Edwin Bonilla and many others will also perform. Talented MDC music students will also sing and perform.
The Latin Jazz Festival concert is a community favorite that occurs under the stars at a time of year South Florida enjoys postcard weather. It was created after the campus leadership and music faculty met with renowned Latin jazz singers a few years ago. In addition to the concert, their collaboration also gave rise to the Latin Jazz Institute at the Kendall Campus where these same acclaimed musicians offer classes to the community not available anywhere else.
Latin Jazz Festival sponsors include Geico, Adam Productions, Gilly, WDNA the event’s official radio partner, Star Quix, Community Newspapers, Chamber South, Jody Jazz Mouthpieces and others.
Due to overwhelming demand, the concert is sold out.
