Miami Dade College’s Tower Theater to Host The Romance in a Can Film Festival
Miami, April 21, 2010 - Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Tower Theater and Red Chemistry, Inc., will host a one-of-a-kind cultural event when the Romance in a Can film festival opens Friday, April 29, 2010. Now in its third year, the festival will be held at the College’s Tower Theater in Little Havana through Sunday, May 9, 2010.
Emphasizing its namesake, the films featured during this year’s festival will focus on love and the art of romance. The festival will open with the French film Rien de Personnel(Nothing Personal) by Mathias Gokalp, who will be present at the screening.
Exclusive to MDC’s Tower Theater, each screening will feature films represented by countries throughout Europe, including Germany, Poland, Spain, and France.
One of the highlights of this year’s festival will be the dedication memoriam to late French filmmaker Jacques Démy. There will be screenings of three of his most prized films, including the unforgettable Les Parapluies de Cherbourg(The Umbrellas of Cherbourg).
The closing night film is the Spanish An Invisible Woman, directed by Oscar-winning producer Gerardo Herrero (The Secret in Their Eyes), with its leading actress María Bouzas in attendance.
All films are subtitled in English.
