Miami Dade College Students Win PTK Awards, Named Coca-Cola Scholars
Miami, May 7, 2010 - Thirteen Miami Dade College (MDC) students were honored at Phi Theta Kappa’s (PTK) annual conference and awards ceremony recently at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel in Orlando, Fla. The event was also a celebration of national College Month.
The 2010 PTK All-Florida Academic Team consists of more than a hundred outstanding students representing Florida’s colleges. Students are selected by their institutions based on their academic achievement, leadership and community service.
“The Phi Theta Kappa All-Florida Academic Team represents the best of The Florida College System. These hard-working students are committed both in the classroom and in their communities,” said Chancellor of the Florida College System Willis N. Holcombe. “We are very proud of their accomplishments and thankful to PTK for this chance to highlight their abilities.”
In addition, three MDC students were named Coca-Cola Scholars and received $1,000 scholarships. They are Amanda Balarezo (Wolfson Campus), Klara Markus (North Campus) and Jobel Cabezas (Homestead Campus).
