Miami, June 16, 2010 - Keeping with its mission to provide vast opportunities for students, Miami Dade College (MDC) signed an articulation agreement with the renowned Emerson College, the country’s only comprehensive college or university dedicated exclusively to communication studies and the arts in a liberal arts context. It is the first of agreement of its kind that Emerson signs with any institution.
MDC presently holds more than 70 articulation agreements with prestigious institutions across the nation. “We are honored to share and sign this agreement,” said Dr. Jacqueline Liebergott, president of Emerson College. “MDC has always been so open and welcoming.”
The agreement was signed by MDC President Dr. Eduardo J. Padrón and Emerson President Dr. Liebergott at a ceremony on June 15 at MDC’s North Campus Science Complex Lecture Hall. During the event, several MDC graduates who are currently attending Emerson College were recognized for their achievements.
Both presidents were enthusiastic about this historic agreement and were filled with great admiration for each other’s institution. Dr. Padrón commended Emerson’s strong liberal arts curriculum and cited the benefits of the college’s unique offerings. “Those students who are able to communicate effectively will have the advantage in today’s working environment,” he said. “This is a momentous occasion.”
Established in 1880, Emerson College was founded on the study of oratory and the performing arts. Emerson is focused on instilling the highest professional standards through rigorous academic inquiry and experiential learning.
