MDC Homestead Campus President Honored with Congressional Record

Miami, July 20, 2010 - Dr. Jeanne F. Jacobs, President of Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Homestead Campus, was honored with a Congressional Record for her accomplishments in the fields of education, leadership, and research. The acknowledgement came as a surprise to Dr. Jacobs when U.S. Representative Mario Diaz-Balart bestowed the honor upon her on July 7, 2010, at his Miami office.

In her administrative capacity at MDC, Dr. Jacobs has done an exemplary job of focusing on students’ needs and forwarding the mission of the college. She has long been a proponent of higher education and is very active in community organizations including the Executive Council of the Homestead/Florida City Chamber of Commerce, the Senior Advisory Council of the Red Cross, and the Vision Council of Homestead.

During his speech before the House of Representative, Congressman Diaz-Balart noted, “Her leadership has truly made a difference in the lives of students and has taken this fine institution of higher learning on a continued path of excellence.”
