MDC’s School of Business Students Bring Home National Awards
Wolfson Campus winners Natalie Payer and Miao Yu
Miami, July 27, 2010 -
Students from Miami Dade College’s (MDC) School of Business recently proved that hard work pays off at the 2010 National Leadership Competition event for Phi Beta Lambda (PBL), the largest and oldest student organization in the nation for preparing students for careers in business and business-related fields with a membership surpassing 11,000 students and 300 colleges and universities.
A total of 33 MDC students representing Kendall, Wolfson and North campuses participated in the competition, which was held in Nashville, Tenn. MDC competed with students at top four-year universities, including Pennsylvania State University and the University of Nebraska, among others.
Outgoing chapter president and Wolfson Campus student, Natalie Payer, won first place in both Client Services and Retail Management. Horacio Aguirre, Giovanni Castro and Carlos Arguello from Kendall Campus brought home a first place win in the Small Business Management category. With the objective of addressing the national obesity problem, the three entrepreneurs plan to implement their small business plan of providing fitness training in South Florida condos and apartment buildings.
MDC PBL students have consistently placed at the top of this competition year to year.
