Miami, April 13, 2011 - Once again, Miami Dade College’s (MDC) high achieving students are being acknowledged in national collegiate competitions for both their  academic and leadership accomplishments. Most recently, MDC student Laura Loret de Mola was selected as a member of the 2011 All-USA Community College Academic Team.

The InterAmerican Campus student is one of 20 students from more than 1,600 nominations who were selected for the prestigious honor.

The All-USA Community College Academic Team is presented by USA Today and Phi Theta Kappa and is sponsored by Follett Higher Education Group. Loret de Mola was featured along with other members in a full-page section in USA Today newspaper on April 11, 2011.

As an All-USA Community College Academic Team member, Loret de Mola received a $2,500 scholarship and a special medallion during the American Association of Community Colleges convention in New Orleans held earlier this month.

“We are very proud of Laura’s outstanding academic and leadership achievements that have earned her this recognition from USA Today and Phi Theta Kappa,” said Dr. Gina Cortes-Suarez, president of MDC’s InterAmerican Campus.
