Actress Catherine Deneuve

Miami, April 4, 2011 - Just as her latest project, the comedy Potiche, hits U.S. theaters, Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Tower Theater will host a month-long tribute to French actress Catherine Deneuve.

The Tower Theater will be showing seven of Deneuve’s greatest films from April 8 through May 12. The theater will add Potiche to its lineup beginning May 13. Potiche was screened at this year’s Miami International Film Festival and is directed by François Ozon. All films are in French with English subtitles.

Best known for playing mysterious and emotionally-detached vixens, Deneuve began acting as a teenager and became one of France’s most successful actresses. She first earned acclaim for her role in the musical Les Parapluies de Cherbourg (1964). She went on to star in many other prominent films, including Roman Polanski’s Repulsion (1965), Luis Bunuel’s Belle de Jour (1967), François Truffaut’s Le Dernier Metro (1980), and Indochine (1992), for which she was nominated for an Academy Award.
