Miami, July 12, 2011 - Miami Dade College (MDC) announces the selection of Dr. Susan Neimand, director of the School of Education at the InterAmerican Campus, to the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices Implementation Committee (FIC)

“I am honored and very happy to be a part of the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices Implementation Committee,” said Dr. Neimand. “My selection to this committee will ensure MDC’s School of Education maintains a voice in the implementation and expectations process. This will be very helpful as we move forward with curriculum modifications in the fall.”

The goal of the FIC is to assist the Florida Department of Education and institutions of higher education with aligning teacher preparation programs’ core curriculum and assessment systems to the revised Florida Educator Accomplished Practices, which must be fully implemented by fall 2012.

“Dr. Neimand is a uniquely qualified member of this committee,” said Dr. Carol Tulikangas, dean of academic affairs at MDC’s InterAmerican Campus. “She is a strong advocate for our Teacher Education programs and we thank her for her willingness to take on this challenge.”

Located at the InterAmerican Campus, MDC’s acclaimed School of Education offers both associate in arts and baccalaureate degrees in various programs of study including Early Childhood, K-12, Exceptional Student Education, Mathematics, and Science.
