Miami Dade College’s Tower Theater to Screen Argentinean Film Anita
Miami, July 6, 2011 - Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Tower Theater continues its exclusive movie lineup with the North American theatrical premiere of Anita, a popular Argentinean film starring Academy Award-nominated actress Norma Aleandro, on Friday, July 8.
Anita is the story of Anita (Alejandra Manzo), a young lady with Down Syndrome, who lives a happy life under her mother Dora’s (Norma Aleandro) meticulous care. One tragic morning in 1994, the local Argentine Israelite Mutual Association is bombed and Anita is left alone and confused. As she wanders through the city’s streets, she learns to take care of herself and touch the lives of those around her.
The film is the latest from director and screenwriter Marcos Carnevale, best known for the international sensation Elsa y Fred. Anita has received critical acclaim and is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Audience Award at nine film festivals.

Tickets for Anita are $8 general admission and $7 for students, seniors and members of the Miami Film Society. Five-ticket packages are available for $30. Free parking available in the lot behind the theater. The film is in Spanish with English subtitles.
