Miami Dade College to Help Kick-off the 14th Annual IFE-ILE Festival
Miami, June 26, 2012 - Miami Dade College (MDC) will help kick-off the 14th Annual IFE-ILE Dance Festival at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 9, at the College’s Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami. The pre-festival event, free and open to the public, will include lively music and dance performances, a panel discussion, film presentation, and more!
The annual Festival is organized by renowned choreographer and dance professor Neri Torres through her non-profit organization, IFE-ILE. A variety of classes and workshops will be offered in rumba, orisha, afro-modern, and casino-style salsa, among other dance disciplines, as well as a closing reception with a performance by IFE-ILE musicians.
Based in Miami, IFE-ILE is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, promotion and cultivation of Afro-Cuban culture and folklore through the arts. Its mission is to develop cross-cultural understanding and to educate community members and visitors through traditional and contemporary dances, music performances, festivals, lectures, workshops, and master classes.
Tickets for the classes/workshops and other events are $10 - $20.
