Miami Dade College’s InterAmerican Campus to Deliver Journals from 30 Articles, 30 Journals, 30 Days Human Rights Project to United Nations

30Journals1

Miami, December 6, 2012 - Miami Dade College’s (MDC) InterAmerican Campus (IAC) recently completed 30 Articles, 30 Journals, 30 Days, a project that promoted awareness and dissemination of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights through visual art and writing. Now, the project culminates with two students and a professor delivering four volumes of these journals to the United Nations (UN).

During their visit to New York, the MDC delegation will meet with the UN Human Rights Council, UN US Mission, and with Assistant Secretary of State for the Western Hemisphere, Ms. Roberta Jacobson.

Students were exposed to the 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights around the campus and had the chance to express their interpretations through artwork and writing.  All submitted works were published in one of the 30 journals - one journal for each article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This video explains the project in detail.

The project was not limited to MDC students – the entire community was invited to participate. The more people who know their rights, the more human rights violations that can be identified and stopped.
