Miami, March 8, 2013 - Dr. Susan Neimand, director of the School of Education at Miami Dade College (MDC), has been appointed the new representative from MDC on the Board of Directors of The Children’s Trust.

The Trust’s work has played an important role in improving the quality of life for kids in South Florida. The College and The Children’s Trust have enjoyed a long, cooperative relationship. Partnerships between The Trust and MDC include the School of Education’s (SOE) participation in the “Read to Learn” project, SOE courses and training for the Early Childhood Professional Administrator Institute (ECPAI), and Trust-funded scholarships for students enrolled in early childhood education classes.

“This is a wonderful opportunity and I am eager to serve in this position. The Children’s Trust has been a wonderful friend to the School of Education’s Early Childhood Education department. They have supported and applauded our work in creating a complete career ladder for early childhood educators, from high school through master’s degree. This partnership has transformed early childhood education and the opportunities for our youngest citizens in Miami-Dade County,” stated Dr. Susan Neimand.

Dr. Neimand succeeds Dr. Gina Cortes-Suarez, former InterAmerican Campus President, who retired in December.
