Miami Dade College Presents AIR Dance Conference

Miami, April 3, 2013 - Put on your dancing shoes!  Miami Dade College (MDC) is hosting its second annual Artistry in Rhythm: Engaging the Community (AIR Dance Conference) in an effort to create an innovative training program for dance artists and a laboratory for choreographers.  The festival will take place at MDC’s Kendall Campus, April 12 & 13.

The scholarly dance conference will explore the significance of community engagement through the vernacular of dance, encourage community growth and development, and enhance professional development within an academic setting.  The conference will consist of a host of master dance classes, lecture/demonstrations, and performances.   

The conference will include technique classes in Ballet, Belly Dance, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Flamenco, Dance Therapy Movement, Modern Dance, Body Conditioning, Yoga, and Choreography/Dance Composition.   Guest artists include Ana Miranda, Constance McIntyre, Teo Castellano, Tiffany Madera, Joanna Ursal, LeVeron Washington, Pioneer Winter, Njeri Plato, Rokka, Elaine Wright, Aprille Hinnant and many more. 

The A.I.R. Dance Conference will include the performances on Friday, April 12 at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m.  Ticket prices for all performances are $5.
