Distinguished Speakers to Address more than 13,000 Miami Dade College Graduates on May 4

Miami, April 29, 2013 - More than 13,000 Miami Dade College (MDC) graduates will walk across the stage to receive their diplomas and listen to inspiring speeches during five commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 4. To mark their momentous achievement, several business, political and community leaders will address students on graduation day, offering anecdotes, wisdom and advice for personal and professional success.     

This year’s speakers include MDC alumnus, National Council of La Raza Board of Directors chairman and Republica chairman and founder, Jorge Plasencia; Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, Bill Diggs; MDC alumnus and Jackson Health System president and CEO, Carlos Migoya; MDC alumnus and U.S. Congressman Joe Garcia; and the president of the United Faculty of Miami Dade College, Professor Mark Richard.  

MDC graduations have always been memorable. In 2011, President Barack Obama spoke to graduates at the James L. Knight International Center. Other past speakers have included Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis and former U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings, among many other distinguished speakers.
