Miami Dade College’s Hialeah Campus Student Literary Magazine, Café Cultura, Wins CSPA Top Honor

Miami Dade College’s
(MDC) Hialeah Campus student literary magazine, Café Cultura, was recently honored by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) with a prestigious 2013 Crown Award, its top recognition for collegiate publications.
is one of only two student publications in Florida to receive a 2013 Crown Award. In total, 43 winners were selected across the country from a pool of 1,344 entries – including digitals, newspapers, magazines, and yearbooks published during the 2011-12 academic year. Entries were judged on writing/editing, design, content, concept, photography, art, and graphics.
“This is an extremely proud moment for the College and our community. It’s so gratifying to see the talents of our amazing students recognized with such a prestigious and coveted award,” said Hialeah Campus Academic and Student Dean Dr. Ana Maria Bradley-Hess.
Launched in 2008, Café Cultura has also earned multiple CSPA Golden Circle and Florida College System Press Association awards.
Founded by Columbia University since 1925 and operated by its Graduate School of Journalism, the CSPA is an international student press association uniting student journalists and faculty advisers at schools and colleges through education conferences, workshops, exchange of ideas, and awards.
