Miami Dade College’s Koubek Center Announces Upcoming Activities

Miami, May 21, 2013 - Art lovers, film connoisseurs, and wordsmiths will be delighted with this month’s cultural line-up at Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Koubek Center.

Among the activities offered are the following:

Aficionados of Cuban paintings will have the opportunity to witness Teok Carrasco’s legendary Pan-American Mural throughout this month at its ArtSpace Gallery. The exposition, part of a collaboration with the Big Five Club, exhibits the art piece that remained lost for more than 20 years.

Movie buffs will be able to enjoy a host of Ibero-American short films on Friday, May 31, at 8 p.m. at the Center’s BlackBox1, including Trip 5 (England, Germany, Iceland, and Mexico); 20 años después (Cuba); En la boca del cielo (Chile); El extranjero (El Salvador); Un dia puede ser cualquiera (Guatemala); and Ciclope (Mexico). Mexican filmmaker, Cristina Proa, will lead the discussion.

Kids rejoice! Saturday, May 25, 3 p.m. - 7 p.m., the Center will offer parents and their children a whole host of outdoor, recreational activities, promoting an enjoyable approach to education and a stronger parent-child relationship.

The Sub-Urban magazine creative team will present its new Collection Edition, Wednesday, May 29, at 7 p.m. at the Center’s BookCorner.

Have a coffee with…Graciela Vazquez and discuss the works of acclaimed writer, Jorge Luis Borges, Tuesday, May 28, at 7 p.m., at the BookCorner. This event is part of the cultural activities proposed by the General Consulate of Argentina, in Miami.

Have a coffee with…fashion and motivational writer, Martin Llorens, Friday, May 31, at 7 p.m. The author will elaborate on his published works, including Vive la vida de tus sueños, and Descubre tu estilo.
