Miami Dade College Provost Dr. Rolando Montoya Appointed to the South Florida Workforce Investment Board

Miami, June 5, 2013 - Miami-Dade County Mayor and Miami Dade College (MDC) alumnus Carlos Gimenez recently appointed MDC Provost Dr. Rolando Montoya to the South Florida Workforce Investment Board. South Florida Workforce is responsible for initiating state and federal funded workforce development programs in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties.  

As provost of the largest and most diverse higher learning institution in the country, Dr. Montoya serves as chief academic and operating officer, including oversight of the college’s human resources, facilities management, information technology, business operations, academic and student affairs. Prior to MDC, he served as a business executive in the fields of finance and accounting and as Consul of Costa Rica in Miami.

Dr. Montoya has held various positions at MDC since 1987. Prior to his current post, Dr. Montoya was president of MDC’s Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami. He also served as professor, department chairperson and dean of academic affairs. In addition, he is a Certified Management Accountant and Certified Financial Manager. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, a master’s degree in finance and a doctoral degree in higher education administration.

In addition to the South Florida Workforce Investment Board, Dr. Montoya serves on several other boards, including Miami Downtown Development Authority, New World School of the Arts at MDC, South Florida Center for Financial Training at MDC, and Disney College Program, among other organizations.
