Miami, September 25, 2013 - Nearly a dozen Miami Dade College (MDC) faculty will be recognized for their dedication to science research at the School of Science’s Distinguished Science Research Awards event at noon, Friday, Sept. 27, at the North Campus Conference Center. The faculty members will be awarded and acknowledged for their scholarly role in conducting advanced scientific research at MDC, as well as serving as mentors to undergraduate students.

Each of the 11 faculty honorees will receive a bronze medal depicting Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man as a symbol of humankind’s quest for understanding the universe through science. College administrators, faculty and students researchers are invited to attend. The ceremony is open to the working media.

“We highly value the commitment these professors have to our institution, our students, and to the progress of science itself. Engaging in research helps faculty make significant contributions to their respective disciplines, while engaging with students and fostering their growth and scholarship,” said Ms. Malou C.
