Miami Dade College’s Hialeah Campus PTK Members Receive Distinguished Recognition
Hialeah Campus PTK Induction Ceremony
Miami, October 17, 2013 -
A group of students from Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Hialeah Campus received some great news recently. Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) International selected the campus’ chapter, Beta Pi Theta, as one of only three chapters internationally to represent PTK and develop its prestigious society by branding in photographs, promotional materials, and on their website.
Chosen for the amazing member growth in the last year – from four active members to 106 – the team is mostly composed of Hispanic students with a 3.5 minimum GPA and 12 credits toward an Associate’s degree. Members also have the opportunity to apply for $37M worth of scholarships and special recognition on their college diplomas and transcripts.
This year’s Beta Pi Theta students recently participated in a College Induction Ceremony to welcome them into the society. They will also attend the PTK Regional/International Conference in Orlando where the team will showcase its Honors in Action Projects in writing and speech competitions.
