Veteran Banking and Corporate Management Leader Appointed as Dean of Miami Dade College’s Acclaimed School of Business

Miami, November 20, 2013 - Longtime banker, business and community leader, Rafael Saldaña, has been hired as the Dean of Miami Dade College’s (MDC) School of Business.

Saldaña brings to this role extensive experience in banking and senior management.  Most recently, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Banesco USA.  He has also served as President and COO of RG Crown Bank, Executive Vice President and Commercial Director of Banco Santander, and Business Director of Marketing and Analytics at Capital One.

Saldaña holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Puerto Rico and a masters of management with majors in Accounting, Finance, Operations, and Industrial Relations from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.   In addition, he has completed executive graduate programs at Duke University, Yale University, the University of California-Berkley, and the University of Chicago.

Currently, he serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, where he was Chair of the Education Committee, and is a member of the board of the Miami Foundation and the board of the Commercial Industrial Association of South Florida.  Saldaña has previously served on the board of the Florida Bankers Association and the board of the Florida International Bankers Association.

Saldaña began his new position at MDC on November 18, 2013.
