Miami Dade College’s InterAmerican Campus to Host Book Presentation by Longtime Human Rights Champion Humberto Esteve Dec. 10
Miami, November 26, 2013 -
As part of Miami Dade College’s (MDC) commemoration of International Human Rights Day, author and human rights activist Humberto Esteve will present his autobiographical book Mi Tiempo (“My Time”), at the InterAmerican Campus at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 10. The book is a recollection of Esteve’s fruitful life, dedicated to public service and the defense of human rights. The presentation is sponsored by MDC’s Center for Latin American and Caribbean Initiatives (CLACI) and the Cuban Research Institute of Florida International University.
Born in Cuba, Esteve went into exile after participating in the resistance against the regimes of the island’s former dictators, Fulgencio Batista and Fidel Castro. The longtime international aid expert founded the development firm CARANA. Based in Miami, Esteve has a remarkable record of aiding the Catholic Church and organizations, such as the Christian Democratic Party of Cuba, which he led for two years.
This event is free and open to the public and will be held in Spanish. Free parking will also be available at the InterAmerican Campus’ 6 Street parking lot.
