Miami Dade College’s Jazz at Wolfson Presents Vocalist Lisanne Lyons Jan. 22

Miami, January 7, 2014 - Miami Dade College’s(MDC) Wolfson Campus Arts and Philosophy Department continues the successful Jazz at Wolfson Presents live jazz series with acclaimed vocalist Lisanne Lyons at noon, Wednesday, Jan. 22, in downtown Miami.                                              

Lyons’ career began as the featured vocalist for the U.S. Air Force bands. During her years in the service, she performed and traveled worldwide with the NORAD Command Band, 504th Air Force Band of the Golden Gate and the U.S. Air Force Academy Falconaires. She has won several awards from DownBeat magazine as both a student and a director, including Best Jazz Vocalist and Best Jazz Arrangement.

Lyons has toured the country with Broadway’s Tony Award-winning production of City of Angels and has performed with the Woody Herman Orchestra, Maynard Ferguson & Big Bop Nouveau, and several pop symphonies and big bands across the nation and abroad. She has also shared the stage with many major jazz artists, including Maria Schneider, Jon Hendricks, Bucky Pizzarelli, and Bobby McFerrin. Lyons has produced two solo CDs and three vocal quartet CDs and is in demand as a performer, adjudicator, arranger, and conductor.

MDC’s Jazz at Wolfson Presents features live performances that run monthly from September through April. The concerts are free and open to the public.
