MDC Kicks Off Gallery Season with Works of Cuban Master Cundo Bermúdez at the Freedom Tower
Miami Dade College’s Art Gallery System will pay tribute to one of Cuba’s greatest artists, the late master Cundo Bermúdez, with an exhibition at the Freedom Tower. An invitation-only opening reception will take place Thursday, Sept. 3, at 6 p.m. The exhibition, which runs Sept. 4 – Nov. 7, is made possible by Bank of America.

MDC Kendall Campus Presents its Annual ‘On Stage Concert Series,’ Now Through December
Miami Dade College Kendall Campus will present its On Stage Concert Series beginning Oct. 6 through Dec. 11, 2009. All performances will be held at the Kendall Campus, 11011 S.W. 104th St., in Kendall, unless otherwise indicated. Held every fall, the concert series combines the talents of students and faculty from the College’s music, theater and dance department.

MDC’s Art Gallery System to exhibit Michael Hall’s collection of Giambologna at the Freedom Tower

The Nation’s Premier Literary Gathering, Miami Book Fair International to Host its 26th Edition Nov. 8 – 15, 2009

Prometeo Theatre Presents Chéjov vs Chéjov in Celebration of Miami Book Fair International
Chéjov vs Chéjov, directed by Jacqueline Briceño, features a selection of the Russian author’s one-act plays interwoven with anecdotes from his life. The play will be performed by students in Prometeo Theater’s renowned two-year Professional Training Program students on Nov. 8, 9, 10, 12, and 13 at 8 p.m.

International Charity Director to Give MDC Students Tips to Finding Meaning in a Material World
In the midst of an economic downturn where the focus seems to be increasingly on money and material wealth, Miami Dade College (MDC) students are instead being prepared to focus on how to find meaning and success through a new approach to living. Marc Kielburger, chief executive director of Free The Children, an international charity that sponsors children’s education programs, will discuss this topic with students via a live broadcast at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at the Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami.

Miami Book Fair International’s Comix Galaxy Partners with Diamond Book Distributors to Celebrate Graphic Novels and Comic Books Nov. 13-15
One of the highlights of this year’s Miami Book Fair International is the Comix Galaxy presented in partnership with Diamond Book Distributors. The unique partnership will introduce comprehensive programs on graphic novels and the comics world that will celebrate its legacy and recent rise in popularity and integration into the mainstream via bookstores, libraries and educational curricula all over the country.
