Message From the President

Friday, May 25, 2007

Well Wishes and a Warm Welcome

I wish to express my deep appreciation to Dr. K.K. Bentil and Dr. Nora Hendrix, both of whom have made important contributions to the fulfillment of the College’s mission, and have served our students with dedication and care. Dr. Bentil is retiring from the College while Dr. Hendrix is returning to the classroom to fulfill her passion as a full-time faculty member. We wish them the very best as they embark on a new chapter in their lives.

Beginning June 1, Dr. Kathie Sigler will become interim campus president at the Medical Center Campus, and Dr. Gina Cortes-Suarez will become interim campus president at the InterAmerican Campus.

Kathie Sigler is certainly no stranger to Miami Dade College. She has served as campus president, provost and administrative dean in a career that has spanned three decades.

Gina Cortes-Suarez is also well-known to our college community. During her career at MDC, she has served as associate provost for faculty initiatives, associate provost for accreditation and academic dean.

I welcome Dr. Sigler and Dr. Cortes-Suarez to their new roles, and send warmest thoughts to Dr. Bentil and Dr. Hendrix.

Thank you.

Eduardo
