Conserving Energy and Other Operational Costs

Miami Dade College's operational costs are on the rise, and with the State's decision to further reduce our budget, we must be extra cautious of how we spend our limited funds.

Our utility costs alone account for $10.5 million anually, of which $8 million is electricity. As employees, we can help cut the College's utility costs by being conscious of our energy consumption. For example, turning off your computer monitor when it is not in use, and turning lights off when exiting your office and meeting spaces can greatly help in our quest to reduce expenses.

In the days ahead, we'll continue to forward ideas suggested by colleagues across the MDC community. By working together, we can conserve energy -- lessening our impact on both the environment and our budget.

Thank you for your support.

Eduardo
