Hunger in Haiti
Many of you have seen the troubling images emerging from Haiti - hungry children and distraught adults, desperate for food. Soaring world food prices have plunged one of the world's poorest countries into a life-threatening crisis.
We can help. Beginning on Tuesday, May 27, through Friday, May, 30, MDC will participate in Miami-Dade County's effort to collect non-perishable food for the people of Haiti. Items such as peanut butter, powdered milk and a wide assortment of canned goods will provide a measure of relief. This is a food-only drive so please do not include other items.
Campus drop-off points are listed below. Please be sure to deliver contributions before 5pm on Friday, May 30.
Some years ago, the College hosted the director of the United Nations World Food Programme. People go hungry each day, she said, despite the fact that food is plentiful, enough to feed every man, woman and child on the planet. Let's see if we can help to make food more plentiful for our neighbors in Haiti as they confront the most critical days of this crisis.
Thank you.
Eduardo
