Cultura del Lobo Presents The Scales of Memory

From the Spanish Harlem Orchestra's high-energy salsa show to the Paquito d'Rivera Quintet's riveting jazz concert, the 17th season of MDC's Cultura del Lobo Performance Series bridges continents and cultures to bring one of the richest seasons yet.

On Saturday, March 15, Cultura del Lobo will take audiences on a journey of art and exploration with Les écailles de la mémoire (The Scales of Memory) -- 8 p.m., at The Joseph Caleb Auditorium (5400 N.W. 22nd Ave., Miami). New York's Urban Bush Women and the men of Senegal's Compagnie Jant-Bi join together in this collaboration that explores the importance of landscapes and how we internalize them.

The Scales of Memory, which depicts the contrasts between rural and urban life and the African-American and African experience, has already received rave reviews. Of a performance at the Kennedy Center in February, The Washington Post wrote, The Scales of Memory "has the force of uncorked acid...the impact fairly roared off the stage."

The Miami Herald featured the upcoming performance on the front page of its Sunday Arts & Entertainment section, in an article titled, "Dancing for memory: From out of Africa springs a powerful collaboration."

Tickets to The Scales of Memory are $5.00 for MDC students, staff and faculty. For more information, call 305-237-3010 or visit www.mdc.edu/culture/events/scalesofmemory.htm .

I would like to express my appreciation to the cultural affairs department, directed by Gregory Jackson, for bringing this evening of energetic entertainment to Miami Dade College.

Thank you.

Eduardo
