Fall 2008 Study Abroad Scholarship Opportunities

I am pleased to announce that Miami Dade College has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the IFSA Foundation to fund scholarships for degree-seeking MDC students interested in studying abroad. The $5,000 need-based scholarships will be awarded to a total of 20 students, five students per semester, for Fall and Spring 2008-2009 and 2009-2010. Students will also receive a $200 travel stipend.

The IFSA scholarships aim to expand opportunities for MDC students to engage in semester-long academic programs in non-traditional locations and to infuse service-learning into students' study abroad experience. Students may choose from programs at MDC-approved institutions in one of 12 countries: Argentina, Belize, China, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, India, Japan, Mexico, Morocco or Russia.

The Office of International Education will accept applications for the Fall 2008 IFSA Foundation scholarships from Monday, Feb. 25, through Tuesday, April 1.

For more information on the IFSA Foundation scholarships, please contact Magnolia Hernandez at 305-237-3008 or mherna14@mdc.edu.

Thank you.

Eduardo
