College to host nearly 100 global Fulbright scholars
Beginning today, Aug. 17, nearly 100 students from around the globe will arrive at Wolfson Campus for a five-day Fulbright Gateway Orientation session. The Fulbright Foreign Student Program is funded by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and administered by the Institute of International Education. The orientation sessions welcome foreign students into the country to familiarize them with the basics of American culture and life in a U.S. college environment.
Program participants have been awarded Fulbright scholarships to earn their masters and doctorates at universities throughout the United States. MDC professors will be leading these students through a rigorous orientation schedule and calendar of events geared toward providing them with an overview of America's academic, financial and legal systems.
The students attending hail from such nations as Spain, Turkey, Chile, Switzerland, Pakistan, Nepal, Colombia, Italy and Norway, and their majors include international relations, filmmaking, music, business, environmental science, anthropology and linguistics.
MDC welcomes the opportunity to once again host some of the brightest minds from around the world who will convene to share ideas and learn about our nation's educational system. As the most diverse educational institution in the country, we offer the perfect place to immerse these students in the American way of life.
For many of these students, this will be their first trip to the United States. Please join me in welcoming them to our campus.
