Message From the President

Monday, January 05, 2009

Welcome to a new year at MDC

Welcome to a new year at Miami Dade College. This beginning to a new semester is always alive with possibility, and with the beginning of classes on Tuesday evening, the full measure of our students' hopes will be front and center.

To encourage their aspirations and help them on their way is the heart and soul of our work. As each of you knows, it is a job full of hopefulness and challenge, a job like no other. We have the chance to participate in our students' lives and learning, and surely no more exciting enterprise exists.

This year we will be confronted by significant external challenges as well. We are hardly immune to the economic struggles that envelop the nation and the state, crises that will certainly affect MDC. We will need to work together more effectively than ever to ensure that we fulfill our commitment to students and confront our challenges wisely.

Despite the scope of these dilemmas, the year ahead is brimming with potential. The future truly is ours to decide, and we can accomplish whatever we set our minds to do. I have great confidence that we can and will make Miami Dade College an even greater place to be this year.

Thank you and a warm welcome back.

Eduardo
