Holiday Reflections
As 2012 draws to a close, I want to wish you a safe and peaceful holiday season. This has been an exceptionally productive year at Miami Dade College, and we have certainly earned our upcoming winter break.
Key among our numerous accomplishments this year, we continued to make progress on our groundbreaking efforts to design and implement model pathways to college completion. We brought home academic and athletic championships, awards for excellence in teaching, scholastics, research, leadership, creative arts and community service, and climbed the charts in influential national rankings.
We developed new programs, degrees and certificates to match the needs of the local workforce and prepare students for successful careers following graduation. We secured additional scholarships and grants to help finance students' academic dreams. We brought an expanded lineup of arts and cultural programming to our community, and hosted prestigious experts, leaders and artists from around the globe. It is a privilege to be at the best and most industrious college in the nation, and a great pleasure to work with all of you.
I want to thank our faculty and staff for your devotion to students and tireless pursuit of excellence. I also want to thank our students for your curiosity and drive, and your commitment to achievement and learning. All of this makes MDC an exciting place to work and to learn. I look forward to all that we will accomplish together in 2013.
